Happy New Year! It’s 2012. If you haven’t resolved to improve your companies marketing efforts this year, I hope you’ll reconsider.

Why? Because there are so many free opportunities out there! It’s may be hard to spend money on marketing (especially if you’ve never done it before and are unsure of the results you’ll see) but when it’s free—come on! Don’t let another month go by without checking out these 4 sites that will help you get found:

I won’t lie. Getting your business properly listed is a little bit of work, but once you get the Google Places listing done you’ll have everything you need to complete the others. Once you complete a couple you’ll be a pro.

Believe it or not there are many more places you can get your business listed for free (at least 50)! Getting these 4 done is a major step in the right direction.

Remember to lead people back to your website whenever possible.

My One Minute Elevator Speech

Welcome to my first blog post! According to statistics I’ve got less a minute grab your attention, tell you about myself, tell you about Emerging Business Systems, and tell you why I’m writing this blog.

Here goes:

I’m a lover of all things small business and internet marketing (except pesky email I did not request). I believe that small business IS the future—and I really enjoy helping those talented individuals (business owners) put together systems that allow them to do what they do best, instead of worrying about things they don’t do best (like building a website).

Emerging Business Systems is a company that is unique in it’s approach—we’re a one stop shop comprised of key professionals (writers, designers, web developers, and sales reps) who all work together to help you brand your business and develop marketing materials that have a huge impact on your image and your bottom line. We help you bring your business to the next level in a big way (and we do it for not a ton of money).

I’m writing this blog because I know that virtually every small business needs marketing materials and a website, maybe not today, but someday, and I want to be the person they think of when the time is right.

In the meantime, I will share cool stuff that may help you build your business today. Most of it will be very simple, because I don’t believe things have to be complicated to be effective.

Some of what I share will be my own insights, some from the resources at EBS, and some will be from other experts I follow on a regular basis (so you don’t have to).
